It's Fall Time!

I have loved this season, how can you tell.
I gasp through my kitchen window, day after day, enjoying natures beauty.
I started shooting photos..September 7 right through till Oct.27th.
These photos are from my own yard...except for the lake scenes.

"Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn."

"Even if something is left undone,
everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn."

"The one red leaf, the last of its clan,
That dances as often as dance it can,
Hanging so light, and hanging so high,
On the topmost twig that looks up at the sky."

My camera and  I run to the front...
grasses blowing in the wind
shades of red in the background

"Autumn, the year's last loveliest smile."

"In the entire circle of the year there are no days so delightful as those of a fine October,
when the trees are bare to the mild heavens,
and the red leaves bestrew the road,
and you can feel the breath of winter, morning and evening --
no days so calm, so tenderly solemn, and with such a reverent meekness in the air."

I run to the south side, capturing the beauty.
"October is a symphony of permanence and change."

"Delicious autumn!  My very soul is wedded to it and
if I were a bird I would fly about the the earth seeking the successive autumns."

O wait...the sun's out, one more quick shot.

One does not need to go far...to find beauty.
"How beautiful leaves grow old.  How full of light and color are their last days."

"Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn."

"A wind has blown the rain away and blown the sky away and all the leaves
away, and the trees stand.  I think, I too, have known autumn to long."

It's the end of October and what was once red in color,
is completely bare again,
reminding us that winter is just around the corner.

Oh wait....one last day of sun...and one last view from my window.

Quick, one more last shot, in the early morning rays. for tomorrow's forecast is rain.

"There is a harmony in autumn, and a luster in it's sky,
which through the summer is not heard or seen,
as if it could not be, as if it had not been."

  4. Like you, this morning on my walk, even through the chatter of the friend beside me, I could not help but focus on the beauty of the colors on the path and beyond. If this beauty does not inspire praise, what will? I love that quote about leaves growing old so beautifully! "How beautiful their last days!"

  5. I think that you love October as much as I do! The trees are at their peak here in Central KY, and were just beautiful today as we drove around. In many places the rain has brought them down to cover the ground like a carpet. Such beauty God gave for us to enjoy. I love the pictures of your driveway.! ~Elaine

  10. I loved all the views of your driveway, Marg. Fall is beautiful in your part of the world. As I drove down from Harrison Mills towards Harrison Hot Springs this morning I couldn't get over the wonderful colour against the wide, silver river. Magial!
