Sisterhood!

I love living in the now and then...
but there are times when I just need to reflect way back....
Last year, I observed these women during my travels,
then someone suggested that I sit beside them.
Many milestones and events both good and bad have been etched into our lives.

Time passes.
Life Happens.
Distance Separates.
Children Grow up.
Jobs Come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't do what they're supposed to do.
Heart break.
Parents die.
Careers end.

BUT.......

Sisters, Girlfriends, Grand-daughters, Daughters,  Daughters-in-law,
Mothers, Mothers-in-law, Grandmothers, Aunties, Nieces,
Cousins, and extended family.
They all bless our life.

When you walk that lonesome valley...they'll be there.
And sometimes you have to walk it alone...but they'll still be there.

When you are struggling with things and feeling alone....
We'll be there cheering you on, pulling for you...
When you just need to sit and read a book, Oma will be there.

Chatting up a storm about life, marriage, kids,
the obligations and responsibilities.
Cling a few glasses!

At age 20 we worry about what others think of us;
At age 40 we don't care what they think of us;
At age 60 we realize that they haven't been thinking of us at all.
Waiting with open arms when you are at your ends wit.
Trust me, they'll be there!

Hey little girl, listen to your MUM!
Some day you will understand that your Mum knew what she was talking about.

Listen to the farming gals.....gum boots, chasing cows, gardening, baking...
Sometimes we will even break the rules, no matter what.

I've learned that it does not matter...what age you are,
young or old....
When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead.  Nor did we know how much we would need each other.

All you need know is that 'this is the time of your life.'
As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries in this world,
here is what I've learned:

The world wouldn't be the same without women and neither would I!

  1. Oh Marg, this post is so full of good observations, warm feelings and practical advice. Sisterhood, girlsfriends, mothers and daughters, aunts and cousins - we women know where to go for support and empathy in our tears and our laughter. It is a gift I never take for granted. Thank you for putting this so beautifully.

  5. I love that photo of you with Ivy! It says JOY and Pride and all those things that a grandmother feels for her granddaughter... and it's just one of the unique relationships we fall into but share with women around the world . . .a language that does not need translation.. , Among the many circles you find yourself in, I love that I can be part of your "sisterhood" circle in some way.

  6. Well said, my friend! What would life be without 'sisters'...to share the good times, the bad times, the sad times, the happy times and all the rest?

Marg, I love how you 'knit' together words, pictures, ideas, truths.
And...does Ivy in the orange chair look like your oldest grandson?
