Thanksgiving Reflections

I looked out at my own backyard to enjoy the natural beauty of color.
Then we took the truck up into the back country and viewed some
breathless sights of Mt Slesse and Mt. McGuire.
Today I'm leaving you with some photos and thoughts that reflect how I
feel about the Thanksgiving Season.

“Before you go out into the world, wash your face in the clear crystal of praise. Bury each yesterday in the fine linen and spices of thankfulness.”
~Charles Spurgeon

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.
 ~John Fitzgerald Kennedy

“The man who has forgotten to be thankful has fallen asleep in life.”
~Robert Louis Stevenson

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Perhaps it takes a purer faith to praise God for unrealized blessings than for those we once enjoyed or those we enjoy now.  ~A.W. Tozer

“Every breath is a battle between grudgery and gratitude.
Give thanks…and you win joy.”
~Ann Voskamp

"To be grateful is to recognize the love of God in everything He has given us -- and He has given us everything. Every breath we draw is a gift of His love, every moment of existence is a grace, for it brings with it immense graces from Him."
~Thomas Merton (Thoughts on Solitude)

  10. It's all about choice, isn't it, Marg? We can choose gratitude and we can choose to be open to the gift of faith. Beautiful views as I get ready to fly off - I'll keep those images in my head.

  13. It seems I'm always here a day or two late...since your blog never updates on my sidebar.

Love your quotes...and the images to go with them. Funny thing...I just finished my Thanksgiving post and it looks much like this...and features some of the same quotes.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. I'm thinking you have some good reasons to give thanks tonight!
