We've been so busy celebrating that it's time I reminisce about my most recent get away.
We flew into Los Angelos, Feb.12th, and drove down to Santa Monica.
Another beautiful ocean pier to explore.
We had not plans....but in the far distance I noticed activity.
Cirque de Soleil was playing on the Santa Monica Pier.
We enjoyed a fine evening of talent, shifting, bending and twisting.
One breathtaking performance. It allowed you to escape in your imagination.
There was no greater gift than to get up Monday morning, my real birth date
and stroll the beaches of Southern California.
We strolled the boardwalk of Southern California's most popular attraction, Venice Beach. It stretches about one and a half miles along the manicured sands of the Pacific Ocean. The board walk is a large part of what makes Venice unique. The board walk has more diversity in demographics and retail then probably anywhere else in the world. And of course one cannot omit Muscle Beach, which used to be the workout gym for Arnold Schwarzenegger. This is a place to people watch, shop and be entertained.
We came across a sandy beach covered with crosses.
Of course we inquired, and shortly realized that volunteers came every Sunday
to this exact same spot and placed over 2500 crosses in memory of those that lost their lives to war.
This memorial known as Arlington West, offers visitors a graceful,
visually and emotionally powerful, place for reflection.
It could not of been a more perfect 60th.
