Taking Time Out

St. Stephen's Cathedral, Vienna soars above the city rooftops.
This Cathedral is a masterpiece of Gothicism..
The south tower stands at 137 m high.
We walked in with a feeling of awe and respect.
Many people were standing there just like us, gazed with their eyes fixed
on the architect and the interior design.

Many tiny tea light candles were lit to commemorate
those loved ones that have passed on.
We also lit a candle in honoring both of our Mother's
especially in honor of Mother's Day.

Then I saw a powerful symbolic picture.
Here was a man kneeling in devoted prayer.
I watched him for a long time and wondered...

How I remembered the times as a little girl,
that my grandmother would kneel by my bedside and pray with me.
Somehow kneeling is not practiced often today.

These beautiful masterpieces soar above the cities and towns.
But so many churches were empty, cold and often closed.

On the outside of this cathedral was a banner that read.
"Jesus Christ Today, Yesterday and Forever."
(in German)

Take some time out today for Jesus and yoursef.

  2. Beautiful photo to remind us to take time for devoted prayer wherever we are.

I would have to think long and hard about spinning more dog hair. The hair I'm doing now had to be cleaned of sticks, stickers, and yes, NAILS, and it took so long and there was so much of it that I'm wondering just how much I would charge if I did this for pay.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your 'nuggets' from Europe...and enjoyed catching up with you last night.

  4. The picture of that cathedral is amazing. I'm not a huge fan of "gothic" looks of today but that one built during that era is magnificent.
the picture of the praying man does touch the heart. I do wonder what he was pouring his heart to the Lord about.

  5. I'm enjoying your European photos and story. I'll have to show my daughter....she spent a semester in the Netherlands in college, and traveled to many other places and absolutely loved it!!
