ReplyDeleteMy mother and grandparents were German. According to their statements my grandmother's family came from the Black Forest area. My grandfather's father was from Hamburg.
I've never been to Germany. Someday I'd like to search my ancestry and find out what towns their families were from before they immigrated to the US.
Now that all looks so familiar...it could be a Swiss village also! Thanks for sharing your experience via photos...I'll be back for the next chapter!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful journey you have taken us on - such beautiful countryside. I've never been to Germany, but your pictures and words share the beauty.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely morning read, Marg. (Much more relaxing than the morning paper!). Thanks for sharing your experiences, and I too, look forward to more chapters in this story. Dairymary
ReplyDeleteMarg, your guest home looks just so warm and welcoming. What a gift to live with the locals and see the real country.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are beautiful and so interesting that we enjoy the same flowers .. here .. .and there.
What an absolutely gorgeous place you stayed at! The Bavarian scenery is beautiful, and hearing the cowbells must have been like a scene from "Heidi". Looking forward to more stories!
ReplyDeleteThat was fun walk! Thanks Marg.
ReplyDeleteI love those chalets. My husband and I spent some time in Switzerland and lived in one. They are so picturesque with the balconies and shutters on the windows. The germaniums are perfect.
Marg, I have to admit we're LAKERS fans here at Willow's Cottage. The Professor has been a fan since he was a little boy and those loyalties run deep, even deeper than loyalty to a homeplace when we were in Portland (but then we were never Blazer fans). So tonight it was time to sit on the other sofa in front of the TV and watch game 5 Det. vs Boston.
ReplyDeleteAnd now Shaq is in Phoenix. And so are my son, dil, daughter, sil, and The New Boy!
ReplyDeleteI was rooting for Det. tonight too, simply because I often feel sorry for the ones behind (except when they're playing the Lakers!).
I'm glad Derek Fisher is back with the Lakers although I'm sorry about the reason behind the move.
But what are the Lakers or the Suns compared to our own adventures in the real world of family and travel? It's fun but it's just a fantasy world.
